For quite some time, I’ve wanted to live in a domed house. Yesterday, I was watching some show on tv about Palm Beach houses, and it mentioned safe rooms (remember the film Panic Room?). Anyway, while searching for safe rooms, I stumbled upon Monolithic Dome Houses, which are similar to geodesic dome houses, but made out of smooth, steel reinforced concrete.
The Monolithic website has calculators on their website for approximating how much the construction for a particualr house will cost. It looks like I’m going to need about $350,000 to build my nearly-indestructable dream home.
My orriginal message to him read:
How does Metal Steve feel about Darrell “Dimebag” Abbott‘s horrific death?
-Justin
The links are added for my reader’s convenience, and were not part of my orriginal email. R. Stevens replied:
He’s got original Pantera vinyl on Ebay right now.
Laughing all the way to the bank!
I have this theory that there are three factors that keep you healthy:
My theory continues that people can get by with only two of these factors present and accounted for without getting sick. So as long as I’m getting enough sleep and taking my daily multi-vitamin, I wont get sick. In fact, I have so little experience with the exercise portion, that I’m not really that sure that it is an important factor. There could be just two factors and people may need both of them.
Anyway. I almost got sick. I hadn’t been taking my vitamin or getting enough sleep and found myself with swelling glands. I proceeded to drink a gallon of water with about 1000% of the redommended daily ammount of vitamin c and then went to bed and slept in. The next morning I felt somewhat better, and by the afternoon I felt fine while I also tried other products like Granddaddy Purple Strain that also help me feel better.
Alan joked today, that wouldn’t get any sleep for the rest of the week. I forget if things are funny because they aren’t true or if things are funny because they are true*. Eitherway, I’m keeping the vitamin c, antacids, analgesics, icecream** and caffiene handy until finals are over, then I’m going into detox for caffiene again.

It seems that I finally managed to talk someone else into participating in a crazy, money making scheme (Hi Adam!), and after reading Casey‘s post that touches on his reason’s for website advertising, I just wanted to make mention of this endeavor.
I’m not sure if callblog is simply going to fall to the wayside once we start really working on it or not. The new site is probably going to take a lot more work then I put in here each day, and it’s also very doubtful that it will even pay for itself. Perhaps, however, this post per day thing is just practice for the skills I’ll need to be hugely successful.
I brought a camera, but didn’t feel like taking any pictures. I guess I just wasn’t in the photography mood. That and it would’ve been weird to take a bunch of pictures of a guy at my table(thank you, Jenny, for picking out our seats). I, being my usual self, was fairly quiet at the table. We did come back with something to show for the trip though, I got my copy of The Last Dive signed, and Jenny won a tide clock and a dive-themed sweater in the raffle. I’ll try to put pictures of those up in the scuba section of the gallery soon. Bernie also gave out free (digital) copies of the fall edition of Immersed, which I’ve only had time to flip through so far, but maybe I’ll have time to sit down and read it this week.
I don’t have too much to say about the night other then that. The chicken tenders that were served are quite possibly the best I’ve ever tasted (and so tender!). Bernie is an excellent speaker, whom I hope to see again. Some of the ideas that Bernie spoke about will me make reconsider my next few SCUBA equipment purchases and the direction I take with my training. If I find employment in this area after December(anyone in New England looking for an entry level computer programmer?), I really ought to join UDNH. I really ought to join DAN and get some dive insurance too.
Piebald is coming back to PSU, thanks to WPCR. Its a “best-of” show, so you’ll get to hear alot of old songs and some new ones too. I’m not going embed the flash ad (more of a trailer, really) here, but its located over at http://www.piebald.com/ads/. The show is Nov. 20th, starting around 7:30 in the HUB at Plymouth State University. Its going to rock hard, so you’d better bring your rockin’ out shoes, lest some rock related injury befall you. rock.
Tonight, i went to the penny sale with Jenny, Adam, Mark and Emily. Pictured are our tickets for the blue round. Good times are being had by all(well, most) as i type this into my phone.

Spread Firefox has collected donations from over 8,000 people as of today, October 27th, 2004. Each of those donations is worth at least $10 (the student level) but I imagine most are at the $30 individual level. If you do the math, we’re talking around $240k for the Mozilla Project. While I don’t use firefox as my primary browser, I am now jumping to it instead of IE when I can’t use Opera, and the novelty of being in the New York Times for $10 seemed woth it to me, so I did cough up the student donation. There’s still 2 days to get your name in the Firefox launch ad in the NYT. Its too late to donate early, but you can still donate often.
Went up East Rattlesnake with Mike and Leasa. wandered around trying to find the first and second stage of the multi. Found the cache with the aid of head lamps and walked down the mountain after dark. This was my first time up East Rattlesnake, but I think I like west better. I removed track points involved in finding the cache, so as not to give it away, but here’s our track overlayed over aerial and topo maps. Almost forgot, I found 3 ticks and Mike found one. That brings my geocaching parasite total to 6, which means that I’m averaging 2 ticks per cache.
