{"id":197,"date":"2007-05-28T09:00:07","date_gmt":"2007-05-28T13:00:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.callblog.net\/?p=197"},"modified":"2025-10-17T13:16:29","modified_gmt":"2025-10-17T17:16:29","slug":"rumor-drm-free-itunes-this-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/callblog.net\/blog\/post\/rumor-drm-free-itunes-this-week","title":{"rendered":"Rumor: DRM-free iTunes this week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gizmodo is <a href=\"http:\/\/gizmodo.com\/gadgets\/free-at-last\/rumor-emis-drm+free-tracks-hitting-itunes-this-week-263852.php\">reporting<\/a> that DRM-free tracks from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emigroup.com\/\">EMI<\/a> <em>could<\/em> be hitting the virtual shelves this week.  This got me excited because I had been looking forward to an easy way to actually pay for music online without having all sorts of restrictions on what I do with this music when I get it.  I started to wonder however, if there were any artists on EMI that I actually care about.  I managed to find <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emigroup.com\/About\/Music\/Default.htm\">a list<\/a> and there are quite a few artists that I had been listening to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lily Allen<\/li>\n<li>The Beastie Boys<\/li>\n<li>Blur<\/li>\n<li>Depeche Mode<\/li>\n<li>Duran Duran<\/li>\n<li>Fischerspooner<\/li>\n<li>Goldfrapp<\/li>\n<li>Kelis<\/li>\n<li>Lenny Kravitz<\/li>\n<li>The Magic Numbers<\/li>\n<li>OK Go<\/li>\n<li>Liz Phair<\/li>\n<li>Iggy Pop<\/li>\n<li>Moby<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Most of these are artists that I had been listening to for a while, or that I picked up by listening to <a href=\"http:\/\/pigradio.com\/\">Pig Radio<\/a>, which I can not recommend highly enough if you like Indie Rock, Techno and Electro Pop.  The only exception  is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lilyallenmusic.com\/\">Lily Allen<\/a>, who I had heard on Pig Radio, but didn&#8217;t really become interested in until <a href=\"http:\/\/riff.bwerp.net\">Karl<\/a>. played a few of her tracks over some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eve-online.com\/\">EVE<\/a> one afternoon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gizmodo is reporting that DRM-free tracks from EMI could be hitting the virtual shelves this week.
